Obituary: Kimberly King, 66, of Free Soil

Kimberly “Kim” Ann King, 66, of Free Soil, formerly of San Diego, Cali., passed away at home on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Kim was born February 21, 1956, in Manistee, the daughter of Milan and Lucille (Garber) Tessman of East Lake. She graduated from Manistee High School in 1974.

Kim’s top priority was her daughter, Magie. Along with being an awesome Mom, Kim acquired many different skills. She was employed as a first mate of a salmon charter fishing boat, worked for the Glen of Michigan garment company, was a machinist at Excello of Manistee, and a home care aide for Manistee Community Mental Health. She was employed by San Diego City Schools at the office of her daughter’s elementary school, was a lab technician at the University of San Diego, California, and a security guard for private communities. Before retiring she was a cook on the S.S. Badger and a Home Depot employee.

In her spare time Kim took on home improvement projects and goat farming. She was truly a “Jane-of-all trades.” Kim was a faithful member of the Living Church of God and enjoyed fellowship with the Traverse City congregation. Her favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, hiking, gardening, and birdwatching. She was also a self-taught artist, producing works from sketched doodles to wall murals.

Kim is survived by her father, Milan Tessman; brothers, William and Paul Tessman; sisters, Tina Tessman, Judy Lundy, and Linda Loper; daughter, Magie Sue Stefanski, and her nieces and nephews.

Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille (Garber) Tessman.

Arrangements were entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, www.oakgroveludington.com.
