Dogs, cat die in Round Lake fire.

SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP — Two dogs and a cat died in a house fire at a residence at 6591 E. Sugar Grove Road (near Round Lake) Saturday evening, Sept. 10, 2022. Fountain Area Fire Department and Branch Fire Department were initially dispatched to the scene at 9:42 p.m. According to Barry Ruger, Fountain assistant fire chief, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, however, heavy fire damage occurred in the kitchen of the home with heavy smoke damage throughout.

Two adults and two children live in the home, none of them were injured.

Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies were also on scene, along with Fountain Fire Department Auxiliary. The American Red Cross was called to assist the home occupants. All emergency personnel cleared the scene about 11 p.m.
