Loaded handgun found in vehicle following drug-related crash.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Mason County sheriff’s deputies recovered a loaded handgun in a suspect’s vehicle Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7:20 p.m. after the vehicle crashed on Hansen Road east of Meyers Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

A 31-year-old Scottville man was arrested for operating while under the influence of drugs and carrying a concealed weapon.

The following is other Mason County Sheriff’s Office activity Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022:

  • 4 a.m., one-vehicle crash, US 31 and North Scottville Road, Amber Township. A 72-year-old Manistee woman received minor injuries after the vehicle she was operating ran off the road and into several bushes.
  • 1:23 p.m., gas drive-off, $60.31 in fuel stolen, Airport EZ Mart, 5400 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 4:42 p.m., two-vehicle crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Oakridge Road, Pere Marquette Township.
