Obituary: Delores DeGood, 90, of Ludington.

Delores (Shears) DeGood, 90, of Ludington, formerly of the Owosso/Corunna area, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Delores was born March 20, 1932, in Grand Rapids, to Willard and Ethel (Cook) Shears. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1948 and went on to attend Northwood University earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration. 

Delores married the love of her life, Henry DeGood on August 6, 1949 and spent 65 precious years with him until his passing in 2014. She worked as an EMT for Corunna Area Ambulance Service but spent most of her professional career in finances. She ran her own business, Delores DeGood Accounting and Tax Service and retired from Heyse and Associates in 2022 after 28 years of service. Delores had a giving spirit and wanted to get involved to give back to her community. She spent her time helping charities with causes close to her heart including HELP Ministries, American Red Cross, and American Cancer Society. In her free time Delores loved to read and listen to music. 

Delores is survived by her children: John (Linda) DeGood, Barbara (Robert) Thompson, and Donna Martin; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry DeGood; daughter Melinda Kidd; son David DeGood; granddaughter Tamara Powlison; and great-granddaughter Emily Powlison. 

Memorial contributions in Delores’s honor can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. 

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Mason County Reformed Church in Scottville with visitation starting at noon. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes in Corunna. Burial will follow at Pine Tree Cemetery in Corunna.
