51st Circuit Court sentencings, posted Aug. 16, 2022. 

LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 51st Circuit Court. 

James

– Joseph Wayne James, 38, was sentenced to two days in jail and three years probation on the charges of computers – internet – communicating with another to commit a  crime 2 to 4 years. A second charge of distributing sexually explicit, visual or verbal matter to children was dismissed in a plea agreement. James was arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and arraigned on the charges on April 22, 2021.

Knowles

– Charles Curtis Knowles, 36, was sentenced to one year in jail, with credit for 110 days served for the charge of controlled substance – possession of methamphetamine. A second charge of habitual offender supplemental warrant – third conviction was dismissed. Knowles was arrested by Michigan State Police for the offense that took place on April 7, 2022. He was arraigned on April 8, 2022.

– Bryan John Martin, 42, was sentenced to to 12 months in jail, with credit for 143 days served, for two counts of uttering and publishing. Martin was arrested by Scottville Police Department for the offense that occurred on Feb. 28, 2022. He was arraigned on April 22, 2022. 

Samuels

– Nicholas Lee Samuels, 41, was sentenced to 22 days in jail and one year probation for embezzlement – agent or trustee $1,000 or more but less than $20,000.
