Ludington man arraigned on 3 charges of assaulting police.

LUDINGTON — Caleb John Bowman, 39, of Ludington was arraigned on Wednesday, Aug. 10 in 79th District Court on three counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer following an incident that took place in the Walmart parking lot, 4854 W. US 10 in Pere Marquette Township.

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, a sheriff deputy pulled over Bowman for an alleged traffic violation about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. At that time, they discovered there was an outstanding arrest warrant against Bowman from Ludington Police Department for the misdemeanor charge of stalking.

“During the stop, the suspect refused to exit his vehicle and put the vehicle in reverse, attempting to leave, while the deputy was attempting to remove him from the vehicle. The subject was removed from the vehicle and actively fought with two Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Michigan State Police trooper.”

Assaulting a police officer is a felony punishable by up to two years imprisonment. Mason County Magistrate Glenn Jackson set bond at $250,000 cash/surety and scheduled a preliminary examination in 79th District Court on Aug. 22, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.
