At 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 3700 block of North US 31 for a reported home invasion. The caller, a teenager, was home when he discovered a person had broken into the house.

“While deputies were responding to the call, several other calls came into the Mason-Oceana 911 reporting a shirtless male in the 3700 block of North US 31 shooting a gun at passing cars,” Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said. “It was further reported to responding units that this suspect had re-entered the home of the original home invasion, armed with a long gun.”

The resident of the home fled to a nearby house. As deputies were arriving the suspect reportedly exited the home, , verbally addressing and yelling at the deputy. The suspect was not armed at that time and was taken into custody, Cole said.
