Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital hosts Lakestride Family Fun Run

Eliza Schwass and Tyler Albrecht, both of Ludington, were the first female and first male to cross the finish line in the Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Lakestride Family Fun Run.

LUDINGTON — Over 160 runners and walkers participated in the Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Lakestride Family Fun Run on Friday, June 10 in downtown Ludington. The first one over the finish line was Eliza Schwass of Ludington, with a time of 5 minutes, 58 seconds. Schwass was closely followed by Tyler Albrecht of Ludington, with a time of 6 minutes, 3 seconds. Albrecht was the top finisher in 2021, with a time then of 6 minutes, 34 seconds. Both said they were happy to come in as top finishers.

“It’s fun,” Albrecht said of the one-mile Fun Run event. “I’m running the Lakestride 5k too, so this is a good warm-up for that.”  Schwass said she too was running the Lakestride 5k race.

The Lakestride Family Fun Run serves as the kick-off to the Ludington Lakestride 5k, 10k and half-marathon race that occurs the second Saturday in June each year. Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital has hosted the Lakestride Family Fun Run since its inception.

“This is a great event every year,” said Drew Dostal, president of Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. “We’re happy to put on the Family Fun Run because it helps promote fitness and cardiovascular health, as well as family fun time. Every year, we seem to have more and more participants. We love seeing all the families and the kids’ excitement as they cross the finish line.”
