Road Commission seeks bids for building.

The Mason County Road Commission is soliciting bids for an 80-feet by 200-feet barn/pole building with the following specifications:

  • 80-feet by 200-feet storage barn/pole building with 16-foot side walls, with two 20-feet by 200-feet lean-tos with mono trussed off one side; install metal rodent protection.
  • Storage barn/pole building floor and entrance slabs to be 6-inches of concrete Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) S2 Spec; lean-to slab to be 5-inch minimum of concrete MDOT S2 Spec; wire reinforcing mesh to be installed in all concrete floors/slabs.  Include an alternate bid using Fiber with MDOT S2 Spec.
  • Metal roof and sides with soffit and facia (state steel gauge)
  • Construction of building and concrete to include any necessary excavation, backfill, and permits; initial site work fill to grade to be done by others.
  • Two – 16-feet by 16-feet garage doors (commercial grade)
  • Four – 14-feet by 16-feet garage doors (commercial grade)
  • Six entry doors (commercial grade)
  • Electrical per code, including parts and installation to include service box, meter box if required, outlets, LED lighting in each bay, outdoor lighting and permit and all detail on plans.
  • Occupancy required by October 15, 2022.

Plans are available electronically by calling (231) 757-2882 or on the Mason County Road Commission website.  There are three plan documents. (#1 is the Floor Plan; #2 is the Elevations; #3 is the Electrical & Sections).

PLEASE BASE BID ON THESE PLAN DOCUMENTS

Plans will take precedence over language on the Invitation to Bid.  A set of plans with the Engineer’s Seal will be given to the contractor awarded the bid.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 2 p.m. on Wednesday May 25, 2022, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. 

Bids need to be in a sealed envelope, clearly labeled “Pole Building Bid”

Bids may be dropped off Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Mason County Road Commission, 510 E State Street, Scottville, Michigan, or mailed to the Mason County Road Commission at PO Box 247, Scottville, Michigan 49454.  Any questions may be directed to Jeff Loeser, Superintendent at (231) 206-1989; email address loeserj@masoncountyroads.com

The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive irregularities therein, and to accept any bids which, in the opinion of the Board, may be most advantages and in the best interest of the Road Commission.  The bids will be acted upon at the May 26, 2022 Regular Board Meeting.
