LUDINGTON —Enrice Domingo Morin, 27, of Ludington, was arraigned today in Mason County’s 79th District Court on five counts related to an attempted traffic stop Saturday, April 16. The felony charges include flee and elude, assaulting and resisting arrest (five counts) and a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He is also wanted to warrants that include parole absconder, State of Michigan; domestic violence, third offense, Mason County Sheriff’s Office; and fleeing and elude, Ludington Police Department.

According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, a deputy clocked a vehicle traveling 87 mph in a 40 mph zone eastbound on US 10 near Pere Marquette Highway at 10:14 p.m. Saturday. Cole said the vehicle fled and then cut into the West Coast Car Wash parking lot, 90 S. Pere Marquette Highway.

“The suspect vehicle traveled through the parking lot of the car wash, around the building and back onto US-10 westbound,” Cole said. “The vehicle then attempted to elude deputies by cutting into the Comfort Inn parking lot, driving at high speed through the hotel parking lot, and behind the hotel.

A second MCSO deputy arrived in the Comfort Inn park lot to assist and pulled around the east side of the building.  The suspect vehicle drove head-on into the second deputy causing a collision.  No injuries were reported in the crash.  The patrol car sustained moderate damage and the suspect vehicle considerable damage.

Morin allegedly then exited his vehicle and fled on foot, eastbound from the crash and into the Big Boy parking lot.

“Two deputies attempted to take the suspect into custody, however, he resisted, fighting through a taser deployment and causing minor injuries to both deputies,” Cole said.

During a blood draw at the hospital, he assaulted a third deputy who was attempting to assist a Spectrum Health lab tec during the blood draw. Deputies were assisted by Ludington Police Department.

Morin has a long criminal history that includes multiple drug offenses, domestic violence, breaking and entering, and arson.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for April 27, 2022 at 1 p.m.

He remains lodged in the Mason County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000 (times two) cash/surety for resisting and obstructing charges and $500 for the domestic violence charge, a total of $100,500 .
