SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Educational Foundation’s (MCCEF) 2022 Community Auction raised over $20,000 earlier this month to support educational projects in the Mason County Central School District.

The 27th Annual Spring CommUNITY Auction, the foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser, featured hundreds of items online, and organizers were pleased to see 269 registered bidders take part in the event. Successful bidders won trip packages, entertainment, sporting goods, tools, crafts, home items and more.

“I truly appreciate the bidders, sponsors and the committee that put together an outstanding event – an event that supports MCC Schools and the community,” said Gary Andersen of the MCC Educational Foundation.

Most bidders were from Mason County or Michigan, but some participants were from as far away as Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Florida and Utah.

Sponsored by the educational foundation, the annual spring auction helps fund educational programming in the community. MCCEF has been supporting MCC Schools since 1989 with teacher mini-grants and other larger scholastic projects, scholarships, and educational events. Recent projects have included Clever Touch Boards (smartboards), campus beautification, an outdoor activity center, library renovations, marketing of MCC Schools, and security cameras for all school buildings. The foundation annually funds $15,000-$30,000 worth of projects and scholarships.

This year, the foundation plans to support the MCC High School band program with new uniforms, in addition to annual projects including post-prom, graduating senior scholarships, the district’s art show, MCC staff recognition, and VECC and Elementary READ programs (book giveaways).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MCCEF transitioned to an online format in 2021, which continued this year.
