The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issued a winter weather advisory for Mason and Oceana counties beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, until noon Wednesday, March 30.

A mixture of sleet and freezing rain is expected Tuesday night. “Icing accumulation will be trace amounts to near a tenth of an inch in spots. Slow down and use caution while traveling.”

Mason and Oceana counties, along with several other west Michigan counties, are included in a hazardous weather outlook.

“Freezing rain tonight into part of Wednesday morning may create slick roads before changing to rain. Where temperatures remain cold enough in portions of Central Lower Michigan, up to a quarter inch of ice may create hazardous road conditions for the morning commute.

Some power outages will also be possible across interior portions of central lower Michigan.

“Snow showers Thursday night into Friday morning may create some patchy slick spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses.”
