SCOTTVILLE — The Scottville City Commission honored resident Howard VanderLaan Monday during its regular meeting. VanderLaan recently resigned from the planning commission, ending over 70 years of service to the city. He moved to Scottville in 1955 and, for many years, owned the Gambles Hardware store. VanderLaan also worked as a funeral director. During his service to the city, he has served as mayor, mayor pro-tem, commissioner, and chair of several committees and boards. He has also been an active member of the Scottville Optimist Club.

The commission honored VanderLaan with a resolution.
