The following criminal proceedings recently took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felony Arraignments

Brown

-Richard Paul Brown, 32, of 305 E. Broadway, Scottville, was arrested Feb. 21 by the Scottville Police Department (SPD) on two felony counts of assault/resisting/obstructing police and third offense habitual offender. Probable cause hearing: Mar. 9 at 1 p.m. Bail: $10,000 cash. Read related story. 

 

Dewey

-Robert Leslie Dewey, 46, of 3925 N. Stiles Rd., Victory Township, was arrested Feb. 20 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on a felony charge of third offense operating a vehicle while under the influence of liquor (OUIL). Probable cause hearing: TBD. Bail: $5,000 cash.

 

Kollhoff

-Delphos Benjamin Amos Kollhoff, 33, of 655 Hastings St., Traverse City, was arrested Feb. 18 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy) and transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle. Probable cause hearing: Mar. 2 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 personal recognizance.

 

Misdemeanor Arraignments
-Danielle Nicole Kalis, 27, of 6690 E. Borowski Rd., Sheridan Township; Feb. 18; Ludington Police Department (LPD); assault and battery. Pretrial: Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. Bail: $250 cash.

-Derrick Preston Patton, 48, of 2526 W. Victory Rd., Victory Township; Feb. 14; MCSO; assault and battery. Pretrial: TBD. Bail: $500 personal recognizance.

-Eric Michael Heath, 40, of 601 E. Danaher St., Ludington; Feb. 11; LPD; malicious use of a telecommunications device. Pretrial: TBD. Bail: $1,000 cash.

Sentencings

-Harley Michael Fisher, 25, of 1779 Tallman Lake Rd., Branch Township, pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) second offense and was sentenced to 35 days in jail with credit for two days already served; one year discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random drug tests; subject to random breath tests; no marijuana or controlled substances without a prescription; must attend AA or the Mason County Recovery Group; must complete alcohol highway safety education; must attend SBIRT program; and $1,015 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS).

-David Matthew Stec, 35, of 713 E. Dexter St., Ludington, pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to pay $335 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.

-William James Collier, 38, of 1130 W. Williamson Ave., Flint, pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to domestic violence and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend anger management classes; and $425 in fines/costs. Two counts of truancy were dismissed.

Dismissals

-John Edward Lange, 19, of 2588 N. Victory Corner Rd., Ludington, had a charge of third degree retail fraud dismissed on Feb. 22.
