LUDINGTON — The following criminal proceedings took place in Mason County’s 79th District Court:

Felony Arraignments

Kovar

-Richard Thomas Kovar, 60, of 604 Cypress St., Manistee, was arrested Dec. 31 by Michigan State Police (MSP) on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance (narcotic/cocaine). Probable cause hearing: Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. Bail: $5,000 personal recognizance. 

Stever

-Ryan Allen Stever, 29, of 308 E. Court St., Apt. 5, Ludington, was arrested Jan. 1 by the Ludington Police Department (LPD) on three felony counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. Probable cause hearing: Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. Bail: $1,000 cash.

Treacy

-Nickalaus Lowell Treacy, 29, of 7192 Suburban Dr., Traverse City, was arrested Jan. 4 by MCSO on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine/ecstasy) and misdemeanor charges of failure to maintain security (no vehicle insurance) and operating an unregistered vehicle. Probable cause hearing: Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. Bail: $1,000 cash.

-Jamie Lee Nehm, 23, of 304 S. Madison St., Ludington, was arrested Jan. 1 by LPD on a felony count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. Probable cause hearing: Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. Bail: $500 cash.

Campbell

-George Franklin Campbell, 30, of 400 W. Third St., Scottville, was arrested Jan. 3 by MCSO on a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault). Probable cause hearing: Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. Bail: $500 cash.

Hambley

-Amber Irene Hambley, 34, of 3455 W. Holly Lane, Ludington, was arrested Jan. 1 by MCSO on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (narcotic/cocaine) and operating a vehicle while intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance. Probable cause hearing: Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. Bail: $250 cash.

Misdemeanor Arraignments

-Geni Brandy Martinez, 45, no address listed; Jan. 1; Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO); larceny less than $200. Pretrial: Jan. 11 at 2:30 p.m. Bail: $100 cash.

-Daniel Aaron VanKampen, 32, of 1960 S. Custer Rd., Custer Township; Jan. 3; MCSO; second offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Pretrial: Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. Bail: $500 cash.

Sentencings

-Neal Barton Guss, 29, of 4931 N. Cleveland St., Fountain, pleaded guilty Jan. 5 to transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and was sentenced to six days in jail with credit for six days served; 30 days discretionary jail for six months; no drugs/alcohol; must have a substance abuse evaluation; and $250 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS). A charge of trespassing was dismissed.

-Joel Elias Titsworth, 59, address listed as Mason County Jail, pleaded guilty Jan. 5 to disorderly person jostling and was sentenced to 38 days in jail with credit for 38 days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests; must have a substance abuse evaluation; no contact with the victim; and $250 in fines/costs.

-Mark Demery Petersen, 64, of 5715 N. Beaune Rd., Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty Jan. 5 to general violation of wildlife conservation and was sentenced to pay $225 in fines/costs.

-Damien T. Ruddy, 48, of321 E. Fountain Rd., Sherman Township, pleaded guilty Jan. 5 to failure to report an accident and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random breath tests; must attend victim’s impact panel; must have a substance abuse evaluation; and $365 in fines/costs.
