LUDINGTON — The SS Badger will depart Ludington harbor, about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3 and will be taken to Sturgeon Bay, Wis. where it will spend the winter in dry-dock. According to information from Lake Michigan Carferry, a tugboat will take the Badger across Lake Michigan. In dry-dock it will undergo its five-year inspection, routine repairs and a receive a new paint job.

The 410-feet long Badger was launched in 1953, a year after its sister ship, the SS Spartan. Both were built in Sturgeon Bay.
