Scottville Fall Celebration is Saturday; first responders to be honored.

SCOTTVILLE — The inaugural Scottville Fall Celebration will be held Saturday, Sept. 11 in downtown Scottville. One of the highlights of the event will be a 20th anniversary observation of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, honoring local first responders.  

The celebration will also include a performance of the Scottville Clown Band, its last local public performance of the year. The band will perform on South Main Street in downtown beginning at 3 p.m. During the band’s intermission, about 3:45 p.m., the Sept. 11 ceremony will take place with keynote speaker Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. 

The event will also include a Touch-A-Truck event from noon to 4 p.m. in the city’s east parking lot with exhibits and activities from Mason County District Library and Sandcastles Children’s Museum along with various “big trucks”; emergency vehicle display; an antique tractor pull at Jabrocki’s Excavating, along West Green Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; a poker run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 9-hole putt putt, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Farmers market, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., wine tasting at North Branch Winery, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; special beer tasting event at Bottle & Can from noon to 3 p.m.; ribbon cutting ceremonies, 11 a.m.; brat and hot dog stand downtown; Cats N Jammers performance, noon to 3 p.m.; corn hole tournament, noon to 4 p.m.; Cooper & Sons pedal pull at 1 p.m.; bounce house; pumpkin painting; Scottville choo choo rides; business displays downtown. 

All area first responders are invited to attend the event. They will gather near the intersection of State and Main streets at 3:15 p.m. and then proceed to the south end of the 100 block of South Main Street during the ceremony. Contact Scottville Police Chief Matt Murphy for more details.
