Fair continues Thursday.

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A forecast for an impending storm, that ended up going south of Mason County, caused the Western Michigan Fair Association to cancel Wednesday’s fair. But, the weather forecast for the rest of the week looks promising. Here is the schedule for the rest of the week. Note, the Homemaker of the Year will be announced at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, it had been scheduled to take place tonight. The Cooper & Sons Pedal Pull will take place on Friday at 4 p.m., it had been scheduled for tonight as well.

Thursday, Aug. 12, Heroes’ Celebration Day, fair entrance is $3 per person; children ages 5 and younger are free. All veterans and senior citizens admitted free.

  • 9 a.m., poultry show
  • Noon to 2 p.m., Special Kids Day (by invitation only through West Shore Educational Service District).
  • 1 p.m., exhibit buildings open
  • 3 p.m., midway opens
  • 3 to 11 p.m., Read for Rides (kids who qualified through Mason County District Library).
  • 3 to 4 p.m., Mason County 4-H in Hayloft Entertainment Tent.
  • 4 to 8 p.m., Ludington Hobbies in Hayloft Entertainment Tent.
  • 5:30 p.m., Mason County Homemaker of the Year announced, Horticulture Building.
  • 7 p.m., TNT Vehicle Barrel Racing, grandstand, $10 per person, $20 per person in pit.

Friday, Aug. 13, Fantastic Friday

  • 10 a.m., dairy show
  • 10 a.m., horse fun games
  • Noon, exhibit buildings open
  • 3 p.m., midway opens
  • 4 p.m., Cooper & Sons pedal pull, show barn
  • 7 p.m., SJO Super Cross, grandstand, $10 per person, $14 per person in pit

 

 

 

Saturday, Aug. 14, Fair Finale

  • 8:30 a.m., Stampede 5K Fun Run/Walk
  • 9 a.m., Barn Brawl Wrestling Tournament
  • 11 a.m., West Michigan Livestock Council Animal Auction
  • Noon, exhibit buildings open, midway opens
  • 3 p.m, Mason County Farm Bureau Hay Bale Toss Contest
  • 6:30 p.m., Unique Motor Sports Demolition Derby, grandstand, $15 per person, $20 per person in pit.

Sunday, Aug. 15 and Monday, Aug. 16 Post-Fair

  • Harness Racing. Times to be announced.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean Areal High Wire Thrill Show
