Suspect in hit-and-run crash arrested after his vehicle runs out of gas.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — A 38-year-old Ludington man who allegedly committed a hit-and-run Saturday afternoon, Aug. 7, was arrested for disorderly person a few hours later when his vehicle ran out of gas, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The crash — which did not involve any injuries — occurred shortly after 1 p.m., on Fountain Road west of US 31 in Victory Township. The suspect was arrested around 4:30 p.m. at US 10 and Brye Road in Amber Township after a deputy, patrolling the area looking for the vehicle involved in the crash, located the suspect’s vehicle out of gas at the intersection. A warrant is being requested through the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office for the hit-and-run.

  1. 5:59 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Fountain Road west of Amber Road, Victory Township.
  2. 6:15 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US31 north of Main (Custer Township)
  3. 9:51 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Tuttle Road, Custer Township.
  4. 7:41 p.m., (MCSO), three-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 and Stiles Road, Amber Township.

Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021:

  1. 5:06 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Pere Marquette Township.
  2. 1:07 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 east of Jebavy Drive, Pere Marquette Township.
  3. 8:10 p.m., (MCSO) a 32-year-old Ludington man was arrested on two outstanding Mason County warrants, 6600 block of West Decker Road, Hamlin Township. One warrant was a criminal bench warrant and the second warrant is for failure to appear. 

Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021:

  • 1:59 a.m., (Michigan State Police), disturbance, 3000 block of Benson Road, Sheridan Township.
  • 5:10 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Lakeshore Drive and Memorial Drive, City of Ludington.
  • 7 p.m., (MCSO), a 44-year-old Fountain man was arrested on a bond violation following a “wellbeing” check on a subject at Meijer, 3900 block of West US 10, Amber Township.
  • 11:18 p.m., (MCSO), a 29-year-old Fountain man was arrested on four outstanding failure to appear warrants out of Mason County following a traffic stop, Fountain and Stephens roads, Sherman Township.
  • 11:23 p.m., (MSP), a 29-year-old Ludington man was arrested on a fugitive warrant for failure to appear, 4000 block of Cleveland Street, Village of Fountain.
