CUSTER — Alcohol is believed to be a factor in two separate hit-and-run crashes — one of which involved an injury — that occurred early Thursday morning, July 22, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

A report will be forwarded to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office seeking charges against a 29-year-old Manistee man who allegedly struck a parked vehicle at each scene and left around 1:30 a.m. The first crash occurred on Madison Street south of US 10, and the second crash occurred on First Street near south Main Street, Cole said.

• 7:57 p.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), warrant arrest, 800 block of North Harrison Street, City of Ludington. A 35-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on a Mason County failure to appear warrant.
• 8 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 59-year-old Ludington woman was arrested for methamphetamine possession, ​400 block of East Third Street​, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
• ​8:58 p.m., (LPD), a 20-year-old Ludington man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant issued by the 79th District Court for shoplifting, ​900 block of North Emily Street​, City of Ludington. He was lodged in the Mason County Jail.

Friday, July 23, 2021:

• 12:31 a.m., (Michigan State Police), a 65-year-old Custer man was arrested for assault, 3000 block of East Decker Road, Sherman Township.
