Big Sable Bus Days announced.

HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — The Sable Point Lighthouse Keepers has announced its Bus Days schedule for the 2021 season at Big Sable Point Lighthouse. “We are certainly happy to be open for the 2021 season and starting to get back to a more normal operation,” said Executive Director Peter Manting. “Our mission is to preserve, promote and educate the public and to make our lighthouses accessible to all. Helping us meet that mission is the scheduling of Bus Days out to the Big Sable Lighthouse to make a way for people who might not want to make the walk out to the lighthouses much easier.”

This year’s bus days are scheduled for June 26, July 8 and 22, August 5 and 19 and September 11.

Several musical groups will perform each day on the grounds of Big Sable for those who are coming out to see the lighthouse and enjoy the day. Lighthouse music fan favorite, AsparaGrass with Ruthie Eilers will be performing on June 26. The group is a local bluegrass/folk band complete with guitars, fiddle, mandolin, upright bass and a truly fine blend of vocal harmonies. The group will be preforming from 1:30 pm to 3:30 p.m. The round-trip bus transportation is offered from noon to 5 p.m. on the day of the event and buses load by the house next to the park rangers office inside the Ludington State Park.

A transportation fee of $5 for Adults and $2 for students 12 and under will be charge to help SPLKA of set the costs of the buses needed for the day. If you have questions please check out our website at www.splka.org or call 231-845-7417.
