Obituary: Shirley Ann Linscott, 89, of Ludington.
Shirley Ann Linscott, 89, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Clare. She was born on September 22, 1931, in Ludington to Wilfrid and Frederica (Williams) Hocking.
Shirley grew up in Ludington, attending Ludington High School and graduating with the class of 1949. She went on to graduate from Hackley Hospital School of Nursing in Muskegon in 1952. Shirley was married on July 11, 1953 to Ralph Linscott, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. Ralph preceded her in death on January 6, 1998.
Shirley worked at Oakview Medical Care Facility, starting when it was built in 1966. She was employed there for 30 years. She enjoyed her time working there, which included being the infection control nurse and teaching the newly employed nurse aides.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sheryl A. Nelson; grandchildren, Kevin (Erika) Burgess and Lisa (Paul) Cooper; and her six great-grandchildren, Megan, Madeline and Elisabeth Cooper, along with Lelia, Emma, and Simon Burgess.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Linscott; parents, Wilifrid and Frederica Hocking; brother, Wilfrid Hocking Jr.; and her sons, Michael and Steven Linscott.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery. Please bring a lawn chair.
