Fire displaces Ludington family from home.

LUDINGTON — Fire swept through a house at 612 S. Adams St. Wednesday morning, displacing a family of seven.

Ludington Fire Department was initially dispatched at 6:59 a.m. Fire Chief John Henderson said the fire started on the second floor, with most of the fire damage contained there. At 7:08 a.m. Henderson requested assistance from Pere Marquette Township Fire Department.

The home was occupied by Steven Christoffersen and Erika Otis, along with their five children, two dogs, and three guinea pigs, all of whom were able to escape safely.

As of 8:30 a.m. Henderson reported the fire had been knocked down.

Life EMS and Ludington Police Department were also on scene. Henderson said he would be asking the Mason County Fire Victims Relief Fund to assist the family.
