LUDINGTON — Former Mason County Undersheriff Jody Hartley has defeated incumbent Chuck Lange, 622-410, in the Republican nomination for the Mason County Commission Third District seat, which represents Hamlin and Grant townships. There were no Democrat party candidates for the seat. Unless there is a write-in candidate in the November General Election, Hartley will be unopposed.

Chuck Lange

Lange has served in the position for 12 years, including serving as commission chair.

Hartley, 61, served 32 years at the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, including serving 5 1/2 years as undersheriff in the current administration with Sheriff Kim Cole. He and his wife, Linda, live in Hamlin Township.
