VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Area residents interested in pursuing a great career as a first responder may now enroll in an emergency medical technician (EMT) certification program available through West Shore Community College this fall.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for EMTs and paramedics is expected to grow 7 percent (from 2018-2028), faster than the average for all occupations.

Veteran paramedic Dan Yost, a supervisor with Life EMS Ambulance’s Northern Michigan Division, will be the instructor for the program, which includes labs, clinical and ambulance driving skills.

“This is a wonderful career opportunity and we support West Shore Community College’s efforts to offer this specialized program locally to residents of Mason and Oceana counties, and surrounding areas,” said Jeff Stockhill, director of Northern Operations for Life EMS Ambulance. For enrollment information, please visit https://www.westshore.edu/admissions/advising-and-registration or call (231) 843-5510.
