GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 29-year-old Mount Pleasant man was arrested by Mason County sheriff’s deputies shortly after 3:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old Mount Pleasant woman in the face at a home located in the 1500 block of West Countyline Road, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
Deputies swore to a warrant charging the suspect with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, which is a 10-year felony, and fourth-offense habitual offender, Cole said. He has not yet been arraigned, so his name is not being immediately released.
The victim was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS and then transferred to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where she is listed in serious condition.
Deputies were responding to a “wellbeing check” after the victim contacted a friend on Facebook Messenger asking to call for help, Sheriff Cole said.
“Two MCSO deputies arrived at the residence and, upon knocking on the door, heard what sounded like a person fall to the floor just inside the door,” he said. “The two deputies entered the residence and found a female victim just inside the door, with a serious stab wound to the face.”
Deputies found the suspect hiding in the home, but he was arrested without incident.
