MCC Middle School PTC to hold grownup spelling bee.

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Middle School PTC is challenging grownups to show their spelling skills and help raise money for the new organization. Catch the Buzz: A Spelling Bee for Grownups will be held Friday, April 10 at Lincoln Hills Golf Club in Hamlin Township. Proceeds raised from the event will help support classroom instruction tools, science equipment, books, computers, field trips, and many other items not funded through the school’s budget.

The event also includes dinner and a cash bar with tickets starting at $50 per person or $75 for two. Currently, the PTC is looking for four-person teams to participate. Entry fees begin at $300. See the PTC’s Facebook page for more information.

Tawnya Miller of the PTC said the event is the major fundraiser for the newly organized group. She said the group is also in need of parents to participate in the PTC. It currently meets second Wednesday of the month.

“The PTC serves a valuable function to help offset educational costs,” said Principal Rob Dennis. “We need more parents, though, to be part of the PTC.”
