Fire damages Custer Township house.

CUSTER TOWNSHIP — Fire severely damaged a house at 909 E. US 10 between Darr and Tuttle roads Sunday evening. Emergency units were first called to the scene at 9:37 p.m. for a report of a fire inside a bedroom. When the first truck arrived fire had broken through the roof. The occupants were able to get out of the house, but dispatch information indicated that a cat may have been in the home.

One firefighter received non-life-threatening injuries after a ceiling collapsed on him. He was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital for evaluation.

Responding emergency units included Custer Fire Department, Scottville Fire Department, Branch Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
