US 31 crash injures 2, closes highway.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Two people were injured following a two vehicle crash on US 31 north of Fountain Road Tuesday morning. The crash occurred shortly after 9 a.m. when a northbound Buick LaSabre apparently lost control, crossed the centerline, and collided with a southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies on scene.

The driver of the Buick was a 38-year-old Branch man. The driver of the Ford was a 49-year-old Manistee woman. Both were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

Accident investigators from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office were on scene.

Emergency units responding included MCSO, Michigan State Police, Fountain Area Fire Department, Free Soil/Meade Fire Department, Grant Fire Department, Life EMS and Pere Marquette Township Fire Department. Mason County Road Commission was also assisted.

US 31 between Fountain and Beyer road was being shut down sporadically during the crash investigation.
