BRANCH TOWNSHIP — A 35-year-old Branch man was injured Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle collided with a log truck on US 10 east of Walhalla. The crash occurred about noon. The injured driver was in an eastbound 2006 Ford Fusion when apparently he lost control of his vehicle and struck the westbound 2002 Kenworth semi truck, driven by a 67-year-old Lake City man. The truck was fully loaded with logs.

The driver of the Fusion was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said the man was in serious condition. The driver of the semi truck was uninjured. The passengers in the Fusion, a 30-year-old person and a 5-year-old were also uninjured.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office crash investigation team was called to the scene.

Responding emergency units included MCSO, Michigan State Police, Branch Fire Department, Custer Fire Department and Life EMS. The Mason County Road Commission was also on scene.
