Oriole News: PM Early Childhood Center adopts new curriculum

By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief

LUDINGTON — Ludington Area School District’s Pere Marquette Early Childhood Center adopted a new curriculum, Connect 4 Learning, this year for its 4-year-old programs. Along with other area early childhood centers, PMECC received a grant for its Great Start Readiness Program from the West Shore Educational Service District. LASD then purchased the curriculum from those funds and also purchased, with its own funds, the curriculum for the tuition based pre-school program.

Sarah Cooper, director of PMECC, said the Connect 4 Learning curriculum ties in literacy, math, social emotional skill, and science. Elements of those areas include communicating and representing, cooperating, comparing and classifying, creating, imagining and innovating, curiosity, observing, persisting, attending and solving, making sense, and using tools strategically.
