LUDINGTON — Fire damaged a house at 807 E. Filer St. Saturday morning. Ludington Fire Department Chief Jerry Funk said nobody was home at the time of the fire. A dog was in the house, and firefighters were able to get it out. It sustained some smoke inhalation and was transported to a veterinarian.

Funk said the fire was contained to the kitchen but the rest of the house had smoke damage. “When I arrived there was smoke coming out of the eaves,” Funk said, adding that he has called in a Michigan State Police fire marshal to investigate.

Pere Marquette Fire Department assisted. Also on scene was Ludington Police Department.
