Oriole News: Trailblazers learn wood shop skills at LHS.

Oriole News is a presentation of Ludington Area School District, powered by Mason County Press.

Today, we feature a special partnership offered by LASD and West Shore Educational Service District. During the current trimester, industrial arts teacher Dan LaDuke spends six weeks teaching wood shop to the members of the ESD’s Trailblazers class, taught by Niki Boerema. The special education students are ages 16 to 20 who learn a variety of life skills in their class. During the second half of the trimester, LaDuke will spend another six weeks teaching wood shop to the members of the ESD’s Horizons class, which is offered to special education young adults ages 20 to 26. Both the Trailblazers and Horizon classrooms are located in Ludington High School in a lease agreement with the ESD.
