Power outage source located, repairs underway.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — Consumers Energy personnel have located the source of the power outage that has caused a large portion of the eastern side of the county to be without power. The outage was caused by equipment that failed on a power pole in the 800 block of West US 10/31 between the Scottville city limit and Gordon Road. Crews were on scene at 1:15 p.m. making repairs.

The power outage effected areas beginning near Brye Road east through Scottville, Custer and Walhalla, north to Free Soil and Fountain.

Scottville Fire Department was initially called to the vicinity of the power outage for a report of electric lines arcing, however did not find anything at the time. Fire department personnel were then called to the West Shore Educational Service District offices on US 10/31 east of Stiles Road for a power transformer that was smoking. Students in that building were relocated to other schools as a precaution.
