Marek named Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year.

Victory Township resident Brian Marek, who recently retired from the Muskegon Fire Department, was recently named Firehouse Magazine’s Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) of the Year. The award recognizes outstanding efforts to promote a high standard of excellence in quality and safety in emergency vehicles.  

Marek served as a firefighter and fire mechanic for Muskegon Fire Department. Upon retiring he had 21 years of experience with emergency service vehicles. Marek helped develop an EVT association in Michigan and is a master EVT in fire apparatus, ambulance and the ARFF vehicle tracks.

The letter nominating Marek said, “Brian has been the leader and mentor to many techs from the state of Michigan who are seeking information on how to become a certified EV tech…His dedication to the fire repair industry is a shining example of what EVT is all about, dedication to the education and safety of fire apparatus.”

Marek is a graduate of Mason County Central High School.
