Lynda and Brian Matson to lead 2019 United Way campaign.

LUDINGTON — Brian and Lynda Matson of Pere Marquette Township have been selected as this year’s United Way of Mason County Fundraising Campaign co-chairs. “We are honored to have the Matsons serve in this capacity.  They are extremely passionate about Mason County and their energy and enthusiasm will make for a very successful campaign,” stated Lynne Russell, United Way executive director.

Brian and Lynda both grew up in the area and are now raising their three children here, McKoy, Lola and Bo.  “We feel very lucky to call this place our home and it’s important to us to do whatever we can to support our community,” said Lynda Matson.  Both Brian and Lynda are involved in numerous outreach initiatives including the Ludington High School STRIVE program, the Ludington Middle School OSCAR reading program, The Rotary Club of Ludington, the Community Foundation for Mason County, and the Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Ball Committee.

This year’s campaign goal is $380,000 and 98% of the total received will be used to directly support the needs of Mason County residents.  Additionally, the United Way works in partnership with many other service driven organizations in order to expand and leverage every dollar donated.  “The money from the campaign helps support programs that drive education, focus on financial stability, and work to improve the overall health of every person living within our community,” said Russell.

A majority of the contributions derive from workplace campaigns with nearly 50 companies that actively support the organization.  Many of these companies share the pledge form with employees and some host kick-off events. “The United Way is such a multi-faceted organization that directly touches the lives of so many people from young adults to our aging population,” said Matson.  “A donation, no matter the amount, can really make an impact.”

This year’s United Way of Mason County campaign will officially kick-off on October 29, 2019 and conclude by late December.   For more information contact Lynne Russell at 231-843-8593 or via email at lynne@masoncountyuw.org or visit the website at https://www.masoncountyuw.org
