Sandcastle’s Children’s Museum launches construction exhibit.

May 7, 2019

LUDINGTON — Sandcastles Children’s Museum is opening a new exhibit called “Building Foundations” beginning this Friday, May 10, 2019. The exhibit was built in partnership with Hardman Construction of Amber Township.

The new exhibit focuses on hands-on activities to help children understand an important concept in the construction field, having a strong foundation. Features of the exhibit include a crane for children to operate, a large bridge to construct following instructional blueprints, and many ways for them to move heavy equipment around whether in the large sand digging area or the large interactive magnetic mural. Kids can also dress for the job by putting on the safety equipment and operating the flag sign to let everyone know about the construction in progress.

Kids can come in with their families to enjoy the new exhibit starting on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., as well as Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Sandcastles kicks off the celebration of its new exhibit with an adult -only party on Thursday Evening, May 9, 2019, from 5 to 10 p.m. This party offers adults time to come see the new exhibit and the renovations that were done to make room for it.

This renovation marks the final space to be renovated in the museum’s historic building. There will be food catered by Blu Moon, the Q Smokehouse, and Britter’s Twisted Whisk,  a cash bar featuring wine, beer by Starving Artist Brewing Company, and Cement Mixer Margaritas.
