LPD investigates car break-ins.

LUDINGTON – The Ludington Police Department investigated two car break-ins over the weekend.

The first break-in was reported Saturday, Jan. 26, at 7:02 a.m. in the 400 block of Danaher Street. The car’s owner saw a male suspect in his vehicle, which was parked at a residence. The owner activated the car alarm in his other vehicle, causing the suspect to flee, according to Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett. Nothing was stolen.

The second car break-in was reported Saturday at 12:42 p.m. in the 400 block of South Rowe Street. A wallet containing a small amount of cash was stolen.

Information about whether the cars were locked or unlocked was not immediately available.

Friday, Jan. 25, 2019:

  • 7:34 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injury, Chauvez Road near Morton Road, Riverton Township.
  • 8:49 a.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $60 in fuel stolen, 400 block of East US 10 — Scottville EZ Mart, Custer Township.
  • 12:08 p.m., (Michigan State Police), an 18-year-old Ludington man was arrested for marijuana possession, US 10 and Brye Road, Amber Township.
  • 3:26 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injury, US 10 west of Meyers Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 3:28 p.m., (MCSO), vehicle slide-off, no damage or injury, Fisher and Amber roads, Amber Township.
  • 3:52 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injury, First Street and Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 10:45 p.m., (MSP), a 20-year-old Fountain woman was arrested for no operator’s license, US 10-31, Amber Township.

Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019:

  • 7:17 p.m., (MCSO), warrant arrest, 400 block of South Main Street, City of Scottville. A 36-year-old Scottville woman was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant out of Mason County.
  • 7:40 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Chauvez and Lister roads, Riverton Township.
  • 9:46 p.m., (MSP), a 37-year-old Fountain woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated and a 37-year-old Manistee man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon while intoxicated, US 31 and Free Soil Road, Grant Township.
  • 10:10 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway south of Hesslund Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 11:17 p.m., (MCSO), warrant arrest, Pere Marquette Highway and Oceana Drive, Summit Township. A 35-year-old Shelby man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant out of Mason County.
