Gofundme page offers way to invest in local, free news.

From Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief.

One of the principles this great country was founded on was the ability of the press to operate without restriction of the government. I truly believe that our society functions at its best when the populous has access to a variety of news. This is true in small towns, big cities, states and the entire country.

As technology has changed over the past couple of decades, so has how people get their news. This change has had an impact on local news across the country. I started the online Mason County Press in 2012 with the goal of providing free news and information to the people who live in or have an interest in Mason County.

We do not charge subscription fees to access Mason County Press or its affiliate news services, Oceana County Press and Manistee County Press. Instead, our primary income source has mainly been through the sale of advertising. We appreciate the support of the many great businesses who have chosen to invest in our service.

We have had many people ask us how they can individually support us to ensure we continue to bring news to the local communities. As a response, we have set up a gofundme page as a way for people to invest individually.

We hope that you can help in any way so we can continue to grow and provide you with the news and information you want.
