Branch man arrested after fleeing police.

AMBER TOWNSHIP – A 40-year-old Branch man was arrested for cocaine possession and bond violation after fleeing from a Mason County sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 21, on US 31, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.
The man was pulled over after a motorist called 911 to report a reckless high-speed driver on US 31. A deputy parked in the Ludington rest area spotted the vehicle, and when the deputy walked up to the vehicle, the driver drove off, Cole said. “He was eventually stopped approximately three miles down the road and arrested.”
His bond was for an original charge of retail fraud.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old Baldwin man faces a felony charge of resisting arrest following an incident Saturday, Nov. 24, at 1:37 a.m. in the 6700 block of West Sassafras Street in Hamlin Township, Cole said.
Deputies responded to a ‘911 hang-up’ call in which the female caller stated she was bleeding and then hung up.
“The first deputy on scene was met by an irate male who was yelling in the deputy’s face,” the sheriff said. “This subject refused several commands to step back away from the deputy and each step the deputy took back, the male took closer.”
The suspect, who was wanted on a warrant in Lake County, refused to comply with the deputy’s orders to place his hands behind his back, Cole said. The woman also refused to cooperate with deputies.
