Fountain man seriously injured following morning crash involving road grader.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — A 55-year-old Fountain man was seriously injured Friday morning, Oct. 26, when his Chevrolet pickup truck collided with a Mason County Road Commission grader. According to Mason County Sheriff Sgt. John Balowski, the an initial investigation revealed the pickup was northbound on Amber Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at Fisher Road. The road grader, driven by a 60-year-old road commission employee, was westbound on Fisher Road and had the right-of-way. The grader struck the pickup as the truck was crossing the intersection, causing severe damage to the truck. The grader appeared to have little damage and its driver was uninjured.

The driver of the pickup was trapped in his truck. Personnel from Scottville Fire Department and Custer Fire Department used rescue tools to extricate the man. He was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and was expected to be flown by helicopter to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Crash investigators were on scene.
