Ludington council expected to hire new assessor tonight.

LUDINGTON — City Council is expected to hire Jared Litwiller of Ludington as its new assessor during its regular meeting tonight. The contracted position pays $43,100.

Interim City Manager Steve Brock said three candidates were interviewed for the position. He said all three had the technical expertise but Litwiller was the best fit for the community.

An assessor is estimates the value of real property within the city. The value is converted into an assessment, which is one component in the computation of real property tax bills.

If the Council approves Litwiller’s hiring and the contract, he may start immediately. The Council meets at 6:30 p.m. at the city’s municipal building, 400 S. Harrison St.
