Shoplifting suspect drops wallet, leading police to his identity.

AMBER TOWNSHIP — A warrant is being issued for a 34-year-old Schoolcraft, Michigan man after he allegedly stole $207 worth of merchandise from the Meijer store on West US 10 Tuesday afternoon, Aug 7.

“The suspect was approached by loss prevention and fled on foot to a vehicle,” said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. “While fleeing on foot, the subject dropped his wallet, leaving his Michigan ID card behind.”

The following is other Mason County Sheriff’s Office activity Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018:

– 5:46 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Darr Road, Custer Township.

– 9:30 a.m., car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Decker Road, Victory Township.

– 2:21 p.m., larceny, Birch Road, Hamlin Township. The victim reported a UPS package stolen off his front porch.

– 5:08 p.m., ​EMS assist, Ariel Drive, Hamlin Township. Emergency crews responded to a “subject down in the road with CPR in progress,” said Sheriff Cole. “It was discovered the victim, a 59-year-old woman from Ohio had been out running and suffered a medical emergency. It was determined she had not been struck by a vehicle or was the victim of a criminal act. The victim was flown to a downstate hospital for further treatment.”
