SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central Middle School Principal John Russell has requested Superintendent Jeff Mount reassign him as a high school math teacher for the 2018-2019 school year, according to an informational report sent to the board of education in advance of Monday’s regular monthly meeting. “Due to the district’s need for an additional secondary math teacher, this reassignment will be granted and does not require action by the board to extend his administrative contract,” the report stated.

Russell was hired by MCC in January 2017 when principal Jeff Tuka was reassigned to the position of high school principal. He had previously served as junior high and senior high principal and athletic director at Marion Public Schools in Wexford County. He also taught at Holton Public Schools.

During Monday’s meeting, the board is also expected to vote on recommendations to renew administrative contracts for Tuka, Upper Elementary Principal Kevin Kimes, Scottville Elementary Principal Chris Etchison, and Business Manager/Transportation Director Kris Courtland-Willick.

The Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. at Victory Early Childhood Center, 4171 N. Stiles Road, Victory Township.
