MCC Jazz Band to perform at Detroit Jazz Festival.

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central High School Jazz Band has been selected to perform at the 2018 Detroit Jazz Festival. The band, under the direction of Tom Thomas, is one of only six high school bands selected to perform at the festival. As part of a prerequisite to perform, the band had to receive a straight “1” rating at the Michigan Schools Band and Orchestra Association’s Jazz Festival. The band also received a recommendation from Dan Meyers, director of music at Muskegon Community College.

The band will perform on Saturday, Sept. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to noon. on the Absopure Waterfront Stage.
