Free video series to explore cannabis.

SCOTTVILLE — The public is invited to a free community education class featuring the documentary video series, “The Sacred Plant,” which which features the most current science and studies about cannabis.

The kick off for the seven-part series is today, Tuesday, May 8, with the showing of “Episode 1: The Sacred Plant…Revealed.” Subsequent episodes will be shown on the second Tuesday of each month from June through November.

The series will explore the two species of the cannabis family, hemp and marijuana, with the goal of ending the confusion over the two plants (one of which is legal in all 50 states while the other is still federally illegal).

The screenings take place at the Scottville Area Senior Center, 140 S. Main St. Use the parking lot behind the senior center and enter through the back door, which is handicap accessible.

The show starts at 6 p.m. Those attending are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to sign-in and be seated. Seating is limited to 75 people, but there will be standing room for additional guests. Most of videos run about 45 minutes, with the first episode a bit longer. There will be a short break in the middle and question and answer community discussion to follow. The Q&A will be led by Colleen Avedisian, a local naturopathic practitioner who owns Natural by Design Studio for Holistic Health.
