Fund established to help teen shot by step-father.
LUDINGTON — A fund has been established to help 18-year-old Amedy Dewey with medical expenses. Amedy was shot on Jan. 6 by her stepfather, David Somers, while she was traveling with Somers, and her mother, Lisa Somers, on I-96 in Ionia County, according to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office. David Somers also fatally shot his wife and then himself during the incident. See related story.
According to Amedy’s aunt (Lisa’s sister) Lori Austin, a fund has been set up at Safe Harbor Credit Union, 1200 E. Tinkham Ave., Ludington.
