Fundraiser planned for Ludington man fighting for his life.

LUDINGTON — A fundraiser and blood drive event will take place to help Ludington resident Dale Kompik, Jr., who is currently in a medically induced coma after coming down with sepsis that has led to the removal of his right lung and his limbs.

The 31-year-old checked himself into Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids on Nov. 11 after experiencing a backache and difficulty breathing. By Nov. 13 his heath deteriorated and doctors had to perform surgery. The sepsis was brought on by pneumonia.

The tentative schedule Saturday, Dec. 30 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 121 N. Jebavy Dr.:

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., blood drive.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m., bake sale.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m., silent auction.

4 to 6 p.m., spaghetti dinner.
