Apprenticeship information sessions to be held.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — Apprenticeship opportunities in Michigan are being highlighted during National Apprenticeship Week November 13-17. The week’s activities will include an apprenticeship information session Tuesday, November 14 from 12:30 1:30 p.m. at the Manistee Northwest Michigan Works! Center, 1660 US 31 South, Filer Township, Manistee County. There will also be an Apprenticeship Open House Wednesday, November 15 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at West Shore Community College’s Tech Center, 3000 North Stiles Road, Victory Township, Mason County.

U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprenticeships are a proven workforce development strategy including on the job training with related technical instruction. Employers who utilize apprentices report higher productivity and retention rates in addition to a substantial return on investment. Apprentices have full-time sustainable income, education without hefty debt, and receive a national credential once the program is completed. Northwest Michigan Works! coordinates Registered Apprenticeships in the region.

The events in Manistee and Mason counties are open to the public and there is no charge. Space is limited for the information session at Northwest Michigan Works!. Those interested in attending can register by contacting Sharon at 231-922-3757.
