American Legion intends to replace playground equipment.

LUDINGTON — The American Legion Post 76 recently sent a memorandum to the Ludington City Council stating its intention to raise $30,000 to replace playground equipment at Blodgett Park, located next to the post at 318 N. James St.

“Although the property is adjacent to the Legion post, it’s city property,” said Michelle Hemmer of the American Legion. “Many people think it belongs to the post and the playground does complement the Post and therefore we want to help. This project is our way of continuing a strong relationship between the Legion and the City of Ludington. The playground has been out-of-code for some time now and we want to ensure the neighborhood has a safe place for kids.”

Hemmer said money will be raised by a number of ways including searching for grants, seeking donations, and community activities held at the post such as dinners. If anyone would like to contribute, checks can be mailed to
